Environment & Sustainability

We assist our clients understand and implement environmentally and socially-responsible policies and operations across the aviation sector.

Aviation plays a critical role in rapidly connecting the world’s people and economies. Securing aviation’s future means connecting society in ways that are environmentally and socially responsible. To70 supports this transformation by helping integrate efficient operations, innovative technologies and the adoption of sustainable fuels across the sector’s very diverse stakeholders and energy consumers.

We offer a wide range of services, including comprehensive environmental impact assessments of airport and airspace operations, noise assessments and mitigation strategies, and the implementation of sustainable technologies and future fuels.

We support our clients on their journey to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, their climate impact. This includes helping improve local air quality and ensuring lower noise impacts for communities near airports. We make this possible by enabling future-proof airport and airspace operations by fostering collaboration with policymakers, NGOs, and the broader aviation sector and using leading-edge analytical tools and simulations.

In addition to supporting our clients, we are committed to improving our own environmental and social impact. To learn how we lead by example, see our annual CSR report.

Environment & Sustainability

Our experts lead detailed analysis and corresponding stakeholder discussions on noise topics, calculating noise contours around the airport or propose and test solutions for effective mitigation of noise from ground and air operations. We follow industry recommended practices as well as develop and utilise our own set of noise assessment tools, such as ICAO’s Balanced Approach to noise reduction.

Do you need to renew your environmental permit or convince a regulator about environmental sustainability of your planned investment? We are ready to develop a complete environmental impact assessment report to support your case.

Our expertise in local air quality assessment, and the impact of innovative mitigation strategies, ensure airport and other aviation stakeholders understand how to improve local air quality. By looking into the key contributing factors we propose, test and implement various emissions reduction strategies including increase in SAF uptake, reduced engine taxiing or the adoption of taxibot operations. We can quantify impact of any potential solutions using our emissions modelling toolkit.

To70 is a leading consultant on ACA guidance and ‘road mapping’ support. Our consultants have decades of experience with the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme and have delivered over 30 verifications across 6 continents. Our clients rely on us to support them through ACA accreditation level 1 up to and including level 5.

Our experts are informed in cutting-edge technology, operational innovations and strategies by regular participation in distinguished environmental working groups such as ICAO, AZEA, CANSO and ACI. Our experts remain at the forefront of noise constraints and mitigation measures, local air quality impact, sustainable aviation fuels and hydrogen or electric aircraft propulsion.

Our experts are involved in several cutting-edge research projects investigating impacts and potential mitigation measures for non-CO₂ emissions and contrails. Do you have a specific technical or policy questions on non-CO₂ impacts that you struggle with? We may be able to provide the answers you seek in cooperation with renown academic aviation institutions.

On regional, national and European governmental levels, To70 experts provide policy makers with support in the development of robust and informed policy. Most recently, we are supporting DG CLIMA on the EU MRV and have supported the Dutch government on the National SAF roadmap. By applying our understanding of global aviation operations, we engage with policy makers on real world implications, impacts and analysis.

Whether it is a longer take-off run required due to increase in local temperatures, a risk of flooding caused by a sea level rise or a shift in traffic demand due to changes in tourist patterns caused by global warming – we can support you in development of robust and sustainable mitigation strategies to combat the impacts of climate change on your airport and aviation operations.
