Non-CO₂ Monitoring, Reporting and Verification support

The European Commission was delegated to set up and initiate legislation to monitor, report and verify non-CO2 emissions from aviation. The required support to integrate the latest scientific consensus on the topic, and to understand the operational constraints and implications. Moreover, they needed to develop an approach to collecting the required data to monitor aviation non-CO2 emissions through a centralized tool.

To70, in partnership with DLR and AerLabs, provided support to DG CLIMA on the challenges mentioned above. To70’s support lay in three distinct areas. First, we provided the operational understanding on aviation related data and how this may be collected. This was also translated into guidance documentation for DG CLIMA and airlines. Second, we provided stakeholder engagement support, including airlines and other relevant stakeholders in the discussions by leading consultations and other key stakeholder meetings. Finally, we provided the overall project management of the supporting consortium to ensure alignment with DG CLIMA.
