The Challenge
Develop a detailed and accurate simulation model of the most complex airport in Europe to help inform decisions on operational and infrastructural needs of the airport for the upcoming scheduling seasons, as well as the airport operations for the long-term future.
Our Approach
In 2017 To70 developed an airside and airspace simulation model of Schiphol Airport. Since then, the model has been continuously reviewed and improved thanks to the close collaboration with Schiphol Airport, LVNL (local ANSP) and the main airlines. The model, endorsed by the key stakeholders, is continuously used to investigate various aspects of airport performance with a focus on capacity and efficiency. We have employed our Schiphol Airport simulation model in numerous operational analyses, ranging from infrastructural investments, infrastructure maintenance programs, yearly capacity analyses to new operational concept of operations like intersection departures or sustainable taxi.
