The Challenge
Identify a combination of noise mitigation measures that would lead to compliance of Schiphol airport with the 2024 noise abatement objectives.
Our Approach
The study investigated current operational context of the airport, its environmental objectives and evolution of noise contours over the several past years. Forecast of the noise impact in scenario where no noise mitigation measures take place was used as a baseline for development of additional scenarios where impact of potential noise mitigation measures was tested. These measures were identified from planned or existing actions indicated by several consulted stakeholders at the airport. As a result, the most feasible combination of the measures was put forward and presented during several consultation sessions held at the Ministry of Water and Infrastructure.
